I Statens Vegvesen sin veiledning om fartsdempere står følgende: Anbefalt høyde er 10 cm for alle disse typene, bortse􀄴 fra fartsputer, som anbefales 8,3 cm høye. Humptyper høyere enn 10 cm anbefales ikke brukt. Fartsdemperen i overgangen Skipsbyggergata/Hundvågveien er høyere enn 10cm.
